a couple of weeks ago we visited our friends, kim and eric, in krebs. one of the days we were there we drove to robber's cave park to spend the day. we took a short hike up to the cave then spent the rest of the time eating lunch and snowcones. kim and blake took turns carrying macie...appearantly it was quite a chore to hike with a baby. next time i think it would be fun to do the 10 mile hike!

baby shower
yesterday we went up to blackwell for my cousin annie's baby shower. she is due in 7 weeks and is having a little boy that they are naming balen james. my cousin justin's girls had fun holding macie all afternoon. after the shower we went out to annie's house and got to see balen's nursery. he's got the cutest cowboy room! it was a good day despite how hot is was!
aunt debbie's house
last week we took a short trip down to texas to see my aunt debbie. macie got to meet my cousins caleb and carly for the first time. she also got fed a bite of snow cone and a bite of mashed potatoes by my aunt debbie. not the first foods i was hoping my baby would eat...hopefully this doesn't ruin our attempts for her to have a healthy diet :-).
cereal
it has been almost a month since she started eating cereal and it is still just as messy. we strip her down to her diaper and then as soon as she is done we put her in the bath. i was hoping we would get this eating thing down by the time she has to start eating fruits and veggies. anyone have any tips for keeping food in a baby's mouth and not all over them and you?

swimming and shots
this afternoon we took macie to the outside pool for the first time. she surprisingly liked the cold water...i think she was also mezmorized by the pretty blue color of the water. last week she had her 4 month appointment and shots. i didn't notice any kind of reaction after her 2 month shots, but after her shots last week she ran a fever and acted fussy all day. it was the first time that we had to give her baby tylenol...poor girl. she has mostly recovered from the shots...just a small knot in her leg still left. she now weighs 14 lbs 13 oz...exactly double her birth weight. her height is in the 90th percentile and her weight is in the 75th. we are wondering if she will be tall like blake. the doctor also gave us the go-ahead to feed her rice cereal...that has been fun...i'll post pictures of that soon!
