it's beginning to look a lot like christmas!

we've had lots of contributors to our christmas decorations this year.  a few shout outs... to my cousins for the adorable reindeer that has found his home as the centerpiece on our island... to my principal for giving us a tree for all of the kiddos yearly ornaments... and to my sweet husband for spending multiple days every year putting up and taking down the outside lights.
i wish our house could like this year round!

creepy

i just noticed that it has been three months since my last blog post.  it has been a crazy three months!  right after the fourth of july my dad had knee surgery and ended up with some pretty serious complications that have made him immobile since.  he is beginning to get better, though, thank goodness... and will hopefully be back on his feet by christmas!  while my dad was on his third stay in the hospital for his knee, my mom got results back that she has breast cancer.  we held our breath for about two weeks waiting on genetic testing to come back to see if she had the cancer gene.  all the women in the family took a deep breath when her results came back negative!  she will have surgery in a couple of weeks and do radiation and we are praying that it will go into remission permenantly!  so, maybe this all explains why i am feeling a little "creepy" this halloween.  i usually go "fun" for halloween, but i'm feeling the skeletons this year.  here's to my favorite month!!!

happy fourth

we are so happy to finally see a smile on our sweet macie's face this fourth of july.  she has been battling mono, a stomach bug, and pneumonia for the past 17 days.  she had a few good days in the middle and we thought she was getting better only to relapse for the last week.  she even spent the better part of yesterday in the emergency room.  we prayed all night for her and are so relieved to see that she is doing better today and was even sporting her contagious smile at our fourth of july dinner tonight.  prayers for all the moms and dads out there with sick kids... nothing is more stressful or heartbreaking than seeing your child suffer.
