1st birthday

macie's first birthday is tuesday, but we had her party today. we've had ice and snow the past few days...so several people weren't able to make it. we had lots of fun, though. she opened presents (her cousins parker and peyton helped). then we had a special candle that her grandpa moody bought on their trip to china, a few months before he died. he never knew about macie, but he bought it knowing that blake and i would have a baby and need a special candle to celebrate her first birthday someday. today was that day...except the sentimental candle almost caught the whole house on fire! you can see the disaster in the pictures. it was a good thing we had kenny, a firefighter, here. her little smash cake was ruined, but she enjoyed a piece of the big cake and she never knew the difference.

my mema

two weeks ago one of my most favorite people left this world. i can only hope to be as wonderful and fun of a grandmother someday as she was.

sick!

we left shawnee christmas night at around 6:00 for what should have been a 30 minute drive home. when we got about 10 miles from home I-40 got really icy. a semi-truck right in front of us jack-knived and blocked the entire interstate. we were at a complete standstill. macie started to fuss so i got her out of her carseat to change her diaper (getting her out of the carseat was against my better judgement...we were at a complete standstill, though, and all the cars around us were in park). after i changed her diaper she sat up and threw-up all over me! she proceeded to vomit every 10 to 20 minutes for the next 6 hours! we finally made in to our house at 9:00 (3 hours in a pukey car)! this is the first time she has been sick...there is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing your baby sick and not being able to take their pain away. we stayed up with her until 3:00 a.m. when she finally started to get better. the next several days she was sickly acting so we spent most of the week between christmas and new years in the house trying to get well. and, yes, i did end up getting sick too...not a fun week at all!

pajama party #2

we spent christmas eve with blake's family. macie, parker and peyton all had new christmas pajamas for the party! the next morning santa (aka uncle brad) came to visit and brought toys for the kids. macie was facinated by santa, but the boys didn't like santa too much. christmas day we bundled the kids up and took them outside in the snow. you can tell by the expression on macie's face that she did not like the snow...don't worry we only made her stay out long enough to take a few pictures. we were excited that her first christmas was a white one!

pajama party #1

the night before christmas eve we went to my parents house to open gifts. blake wanted to stay the night so we packed our car and drove 30 minutes to norman to have a christmas slumber party. macie got lots of fun toys, blake got a new ipod, and i got a jogging stroller (should i be happy about that or offended?!?). anyways, we stayed the night and woke up the next morning to a snow storm and icy roads. after breakfast we (slowly) made our way out to blake's mom's house in shawnee for our next slumber party.

lights

we have made it a tradition (2 years now) to go see these lights at chesapeake energy in okc. we are fascinated at how they wrap these trees with lights.
