thanksgiving

it has been a very busy thanksgiving break for us. wednesday we went up to blackwell. it was the first time that we have been up since my mema and grandpa have been in the nursing home. thankfully they both got to spend thanksgiving day at my aunt and uncle's house with all of the family. thursday evening we drove to shawnee to see all of blake's family. macie got out of our sight for just a second and we found her under the dining room table with a huge chunk of turkey in her mouth...she was loving it! then friday morning we left for texas to see my mom's side of the family. my aunt debbie made delicious turkey enchiladas and a spread of mexican food. saturday morning we left texas and headed towards shawnee again to spend more time with blake's mom, nanny and pawpaw. i have vowed not to get in a car at all today! we are relaxing at the house and decorating for christmas... two of my favorite activities!

marathon

last weekend we went to tulsa so that blake could run in his first marathon. macie, blake's mom, and i drove the race course and every 5 miles parked and cheered as he ran by. he planned on running it in 4 hours and 45 minutes, but it ended up taking him 5 hours and 25 minutes. it was much harder than he expected...despite the last 4 months of training! i am proud of him...but glad that it is over!

little cupcake

macie was a cupcake for halloween (i made her costume...you have to use your imagination a little!). we had a party at our house and her cousins came dressed as monkeys. the boys went trick or treating, but macie had fun handing out candy with me and seeing all the dressed up kids.

vegas

for our five year anniversary, blake and i went to vegas. we shopped, ate really good food, and walked our legs off! on our anniversary we ate dinner at the eiffel tower restaurant...we had an amazing view of the belagio fountains. it was a fun trip, but i was ready to get back home to macie. i think my mom and sister were ready of us to get home too...macie wore them out!

wheel of fortune

several weeks ago we went with my mom and sister to audition for wheel of fortune. there were tons of people there...we never even got called on stage. we're big dorks...but i was really hoping one of us would make it on the wheel! oh, well!

state fair

we went to the fair today after church with our friends, kenny and sara. macie missed her morning nap so she was a little fussy. she wouldn't sleep in her stroller so we took turns carrying her while she slept...my arms are going to be sore tomorrow! she did perk up for the baby chicks and pigs. i'm embarrassed to say that between blake and i we ate a pork sandwich, a philly steak sandwich, corn on the cob, strawberry lemonade, a corn dog, candied pecans, fried cheese and cinnamon rolls! we will have to get back to our healthy diet tomorrow!

remote control

macie loves the remote control. in fact, she has learned how to crawl thanks to the remote. we will set it across the room and she will find a way to get over to it. the past few weeks she has belly crawled to it, but just yesterday she figured out how to crawl on her knees. i can't believe my baby is already crawling!

football season

it could be a sad season for the football fans in this house....our mcloud redskins and the sooners both lost this weekend!

memaw, grammie & grandpa

macie sure loves her grandparents!

toby keith's

last weekend blake's band played at toby keith's restaurant in bricktown. macie lasted through the first set and then let me know that she was ready to go home and go to bed!

happy girl

macie is such a happy girl. we are having so much fun with her at this stage. she loves to smile and laugh and make new friends. one of her favorite things to do is roll over...we put her on the floor and she will make it across the living room in a matter of minutes. i can't imagine how i am going to keep up with her when she starts crawling!

summer's over

well, summer is officially over for us. i went back to work monday and the kids came back wednesday. macie started with her new babysitter, jamie, who is a coaches' wife from school. macie seems very happy...i don't think she even realizes that i'm away from her all day. jamie drives a bus and meets me in front of my school every morning after her bus route to pick up macie and then brings her back about 10 minutes before school is out. blake has an office aide go get her and play with her for the last 10 minutes of the day. she ends up getting passed around and makes lots of new friends. i have had a good but crazy week. i think i still have pregnancy brain because i have made lots of silly mistakes this week. hopefully i will get into the swing of things soon. i do have a student teacher, kat, this semester which is going to be so nice. she's only been there for 3 days and i'm already attached to her! so, wish us all luck for a great semester...me, blake, macie, jamie, kat, and all the students!

6 months

yesterday macie turned 6 months old! to celebrate her 1/2 birthday we went with some friends to this "famous" burger place down by lawton that serves longhorn burgers. we even let her eat some of the homemade ice cream there....it was sooo good! today she had a doctor's appointment and shots. she weighs 17 lbs 2 oz (75th percentile) and is 27 1/4 inches (90th percentile). you would think she would weigh a little more with those chubby cheeks!

baby food

i spent last weekend making lots of baby food for macie. our freezer is now full of ziplock bags with individual portion size blocks of food. so far she has just tried bananas, pears, and peaches. she likes the pears and peaches, but will only eat the bananas if they are mixed in with her cereal (they are so slimy they just slide right out of her mouth). hopefully we have enough food to last her about a month. i also figured out that making your own baby food (especially if you go organic) does not save money! if you like to cook, though, it is fun to make...and to me it looks and tastes a little better than the jarred.

sitting up

macie has been working on sitting up for the past few weeks. in just the last couple of days she has been able to go extended periods without any assistance. every milestone is exciting as a new parent!

paper love and sugar love

i have always had this crazy dream of having my own retail store...or two...to live out my love for crafting and baking. it stems from the summers that i spent playing and working in my grandparents grocery store/bakery and women's dress shop. i figure a blog devoted to these two things in the next best...maybe better because this way i don't have to work on saturdays or the summer :-). anyways, it's just a place for me to share some of the fun things that i like to do.

freedom run

on the 4th, blake and i ran in a race with a group of our friends. blake ran the 8k and i did the 3k. our friend, gary, held macie while we ran...she was cheering for us at the finish line!

hiking

a couple of weeks ago we visited our friends, kim and eric, in krebs. one of the days we were there we drove to robber's cave park to spend the day. we took a short hike up to the cave then spent the rest of the time eating lunch and snowcones. kim and blake took turns carrying macie...appearantly it was quite a chore to hike with a baby. next time i think it would be fun to do the 10 mile hike!
