toby keith's

last weekend blake's band played at toby keith's restaurant in bricktown. macie lasted through the first set and then let me know that she was ready to go home and go to bed!

happy girl

macie is such a happy girl. we are having so much fun with her at this stage. she loves to smile and laugh and make new friends. one of her favorite things to do is roll over...we put her on the floor and she will make it across the living room in a matter of minutes. i can't imagine how i am going to keep up with her when she starts crawling!

summer's over

well, summer is officially over for us. i went back to work monday and the kids came back wednesday. macie started with her new babysitter, jamie, who is a coaches' wife from school. macie seems very happy...i don't think she even realizes that i'm away from her all day. jamie drives a bus and meets me in front of my school every morning after her bus route to pick up macie and then brings her back about 10 minutes before school is out. blake has an office aide go get her and play with her for the last 10 minutes of the day. she ends up getting passed around and makes lots of new friends. i have had a good but crazy week. i think i still have pregnancy brain because i have made lots of silly mistakes this week. hopefully i will get into the swing of things soon. i do have a student teacher, kat, this semester which is going to be so nice. she's only been there for 3 days and i'm already attached to her! so, wish us all luck for a great semester...me, blake, macie, jamie, kat, and all the students!

6 months

yesterday macie turned 6 months old! to celebrate her 1/2 birthday we went with some friends to this "famous" burger place down by lawton that serves longhorn burgers. we even let her eat some of the homemade ice cream there....it was sooo good! today she had a doctor's appointment and shots. she weighs 17 lbs 2 oz (75th percentile) and is 27 1/4 inches (90th percentile). you would think she would weigh a little more with those chubby cheeks!

baby food

i spent last weekend making lots of baby food for macie. our freezer is now full of ziplock bags with individual portion size blocks of food. so far she has just tried bananas, pears, and peaches. she likes the pears and peaches, but will only eat the bananas if they are mixed in with her cereal (they are so slimy they just slide right out of her mouth). hopefully we have enough food to last her about a month. i also figured out that making your own baby food (especially if you go organic) does not save money! if you like to cook, though, it is fun to make...and to me it looks and tastes a little better than the jarred.
