fun run

it was our intention (several months ago) to run in the oklahoma city memorial marathon this weekend.  however, we ended up being cheap and found a free run to do with our friend kim.  kim and i ran the 5K and blake ran with macie on her first 10K run!

prom #8

i survived another prom!  last weekend we had our prom in bricktown...it was a masquerade ball.  i had lots of fun...this was the easiest prom i have ever planned.  so glad that it's over; however, i am already starting to plan next year's prom.

aquarium

earlier this week we took macie to the aquarium in tulsa.  she really seemed to like all of the fish.  i was a little nervous because it is spring break and everyone else had the same idea as we did.  the place was so crowded with screaming kids!  we didn't stay very long...we spent the rest of our day trip eating lunch and shopping at the whole foods market.  thanks grammie and cherith for going with us!

little girl

blake and i can't believe how in just the past month macie has gone from looking like a baby to looking like a little girl. she is definitely a toddler now. no more bottles or formula. she does still like her pacifier at nap time and bed time...in fact, she calls the pacifier her "night-night". she has a mouth full of teeth. she walks very fast (sometimes it wears me out) everywhere we go. she says new words almost daily...although we are still trying to decipher most of them. it amazes me how much a little life can learn to do in just one year!

1st birthday

macie's first birthday is tuesday, but we had her party today. we've had ice and snow the past few days...so several people weren't able to make it. we had lots of fun, though. she opened presents (her cousins parker and peyton helped). then we had a special candle that her grandpa moody bought on their trip to china, a few months before he died. he never knew about macie, but he bought it knowing that blake and i would have a baby and need a special candle to celebrate her first birthday someday. today was that day...except the sentimental candle almost caught the whole house on fire! you can see the disaster in the pictures. it was a good thing we had kenny, a firefighter, here. her little smash cake was ruined, but she enjoyed a piece of the big cake and she never knew the difference.

my mema

two weeks ago one of my most favorite people left this world. i can only hope to be as wonderful and fun of a grandmother someday as she was.

sick!

we left shawnee christmas night at around 6:00 for what should have been a 30 minute drive home. when we got about 10 miles from home I-40 got really icy. a semi-truck right in front of us jack-knived and blocked the entire interstate. we were at a complete standstill. macie started to fuss so i got her out of her carseat to change her diaper (getting her out of the carseat was against my better judgement...we were at a complete standstill, though, and all the cars around us were in park). after i changed her diaper she sat up and threw-up all over me! she proceeded to vomit every 10 to 20 minutes for the next 6 hours! we finally made in to our house at 9:00 (3 hours in a pukey car)! this is the first time she has been sick...there is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing your baby sick and not being able to take their pain away. we stayed up with her until 3:00 a.m. when she finally started to get better. the next several days she was sickly acting so we spent most of the week between christmas and new years in the house trying to get well. and, yes, i did end up getting sick too...not a fun week at all!
